Chongli.
A whole winter to explore.

In the mountains of Zhangjiakou, Hebei, Chongli pairs a ski holiday with a Beijing city trip. It was part of the Zhangjiakou competition zone of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Today, winter here can mean focused ski days, resort evenings or a warm meal in town.

Olympic landmarks, ordinary ski days.

Genting Snow Park hosted Olympic freestyle skiing and snowboard events. The distinctive Snow Ruyi is the National Ski Jumping Centre. Visiting an Olympic landmark and taking a public ski lesson are different activities: confirm access and the exact meeting point before setting off.

Find your mountain before your hotel.

Local government reporting counts nine ski resorts in Chongli. Names you may encounter include those below. They sit in different areas; nine resorts does not mean one linked ski area or one shared lift pass. Seasonal opening and ticket coverage must be checked separately.

There is no single best area. Choose between hotel facilities and resort atmosphere, or a town base with more everyday dining and often a lower room budget. Compare the total cost, including daily transfers.

02 / A BASE IN TOWN

Less resort. More local life.

A simple apartment or guesthouse in Chongli town can often cost less than a resort hotel. It also puts everyday restaurants and local streets closer to your evening. Standards vary: some are basic, while others are well equipped. Judge the individual property.

Before you book

  • Reliable heating, hot water and recent room photos.
  • Private bathroom, lift access and space to dry ski clothing.
  • The exact pickup point, transfer charge and return time.
  • Check-in arrangements, cancellation policy and required guest documents.

After skiing, eat locally.

Try youmian — local oat-flour noodles or steamed oat rolls — and ask about lamb dishes or lamb-and-mushroom sauces. These are regional food ideas rather than endorsements of a particular restaurant. Tell the restaurant about dietary requirements when ordering.

Beginner ski lessons with time to practise at your own pace. Work towards controlling speed, turning and stopping on suitable terrain.

  • 5 hours on snow each day: 3 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon.
  • Allow extra time for travel. Progress depends on each learner.

02 / SKI & RELAX

A softer kind of escape.

Try skiing without filling every hour. A proposed itinerary pairs half-day ski sessions with scenic coffee, photo moments and a hot-spring visit.

  • 3 hours on snow per day, across consecutive half-days.

01 / BEIJING

Start with your arrival.

Tell us your arrival airport or Beijing hotel area. Leave time to transfer to your train departure station; an airport arrival is not the start of a ski day.

02 / BY RAIL

Check the exact station.

Rail services connect Beijing with Taizicheng and Chongli stations. Choose your destination with your resort and accommodation in mind. Check the current timetable on China Railway 12306.

03 / THE LAST MILE

Agree on the last stretch.

Confirm the station-to-hotel and hotel-to-slope journeys before you book. Morning and evening transfers from Chongli town can be discussed; pickup areas and charges are confirmed in advance.

Yes, ask about the beginner options. Share your experience and preferred lesson language so the arrangements can be checked before you book.

What’s included in the price?

Request an itemised quote. Lesson fees, lift passes, equipment, transfers and leisure activities need clear inclusions. Accommodation and meals are arranged separately; no all-inclusive price is advertised here.

Which resort should I choose?

Start with your level, lesson needs and accommodation location. The lessons introduced here are at Xueruyi; ask before booking a hotel at another resort. Resort opening dates and lift operations change with conditions.

Does five days guarantee independent skiing?

It is a learning goal, not a guarantee. Terrain and exercises are chosen for your ability, progress and conditions. Any move to an intermediate run follows the instructor’s assessment.
